​About the Founding Edition — EDC2006

The 1st Education and Development Conference (EDC2006), held from 5th to 7th March 2006 in Bangkok, Thailand at the Classic Place Hotel, marked the beginning of what would grow into one of the longest-running international academic conferences on education and human development in Asia.
As the inaugural edition of the series, EDC2006 brought together a small but diverse group of educators, researchers and practitioners who shared a belief that education plays a central role in shaping human potential, community development and global progress. Although organized at a time long before digital archiving became common, this first conference laid the foundation for many of the principles that continue to define the Education and Development Conference today:
