The 3rd Education and Development Conference (EDC2008), held from 5th to 7th March 2008 at the First Hotel Bangkok, continued to strengthen the conference series established in 2006. Building on the foundations of the first two editions, EDC2008 brought together a diverse and growing international community of educators, researchers and practitioners exploring the intersections between education, social progress and human development.

Although this edition was held before Tomorrow People Organization introduced digital archiving, EDC2008 represents an important stage in the evolution of the conference series. By this point, the Education and Development Conference had already begun to develop a distinct identity rooted in several core principles:

  • No parallel sessions — one room, one community
  • Meaningful connections and intellectually open dialogue
  • Exchange of research, practical insights and lived professional experience
  • Interdisciplinary perspectives on education and development
  • Warm, collaborative and globally inclusive environment

EDC2008 helped solidify the conference’s reputation as a boutique international academic gathering where participants can learn, share and build lasting cross-cultural relationships.
